Just when small business had given up on EVER getting good SEO results . . .
the rules again!
And this time, they’ve made it so much easier for small business to get a top listing in Google.
(I first published this in March 2011, but I think it is worth posting again now as a reminder, as many business owners still have not claimed their listings.)
You probably remember seeing maps being displayed when you did a Google search.
Well Google has taken that to a whole new level now because they recognise how important local searches are.
And they’ve made it easy to do. In fact, you can do it yourself.
You may already have a listing, (set up by Google), so it is important that you Verify your listing now to ensure that no-one else can access and update your details.
The listing is open until you verify your ownership of it, so anyone can change it . . . including your competitors if they were that cheeky.
Then you should update the contents of your listing, add content about what you do and optimise it so that you get better search results.
This subject is so important that we have dedicated an entire page of our website to it with an explanation of how it works, examples of listings, etc.
Please click here now to get all the details.
So what should you do now?
Whether you do it or get us to do it for you and continually monitor and optimise your listing, you should:
Check if you have an existing listing.
Verify the listing so that no-one else can change it.
Monitor and optimise the listing on an ongoing basis.
If you are not sure, ask us to have a look at it. Our team knows what to look for.
