Watch out for the iPad scam
Ever wondered why you get randomly tagged in photos on Facebook?
Here’s the reason why!
It’s a scam to sign you up for something on the Internet that you didn’t really want.
And here is a real-life example . . .

It starts with some information about Facebook that you would probably find really interesting.
Like being able to see who is viewing your profile.
For example:
wow! its amazing now i can check my profile visitors click here —–>>>>>>> http//bit.ly/SJcpF8 <<<<<<<——to check your profile visitors — XXX and 43 others.”
The link takes you to a page that is made to look like a Facebook App approval page. Who knows what really happens there, because the App is not added to your Facebook page.
When you supposedly approve the App, you are told that you must complete a survey to access the App . . . and the survey offered will win you a new iPad, so why not do it, eh?

So you click on the Continue button.
The next page shows a picture of a shiny new iPad.
It proclaims, “Win the new iPad3”.
Just insert your mobile number and tell us which network your phone is on and press the big Submit button.
Sounds great, but wait! There is some very fine print here. What does it say?
Just below the Submit button in the smallest, lightest font possible, it says –
“2 x $6.60/2days subscription, 2 x $6.60 join. .25c/msg in.“
In your hurry to press the submit button and win your iPad3, you probably would not even see that.
It’s only then that you see the Terms and Conditions at the bottom of the page, and then you realise that you have almost been had.
You should note that you are signing up for a paid subscription.
HERE ARE THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
. . . in a normal size font so that you can read them properly !!

So there you go. What a neat scheme to get you in and get some money out of your mobile phone before you even realise what is happening!
Is there anything actually illegal in this process?
Probably not. All the details are there . . . if you are aware and look closely !
Is this process deceptive and bordering on unethical?
In my humble opinion, Yes! But you can make up your own mind about that.
BE WARNED!
AND if you needed further proof, that post is now gone . . .
